Susan Boland Butts, CEO

Susan Boland Butts is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hi-Hope Service Center. Susan came to Hi-Hope in 2008 as the Chief Operating Officer and was named CEO in July 2010. She brings 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, having worked locally in leadership positions for the Center for Children and Young Adults in Marietta, the Care and Counseling Center of Georgia in Decatur and as Senior Consultant for Wellsys Corporation in Stone Mountain, as well as in a nonprofit in Tucson, Arizona. Susan's professional background includes extensive experience in human services including work with women and children victims of domestic violence and child abuse, mental health treatment and residential programs. Her consulting experience includes grant writing, strategic planning and program evaluation. Susan is a graduate of Samford University and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Carol Steier, Operations Manager

Carol Steier is the Operations Manager and has been associated with Hi-Hope since 2007 as an employee and a consultant. Carol provides oversight of facilities, technology and vehicles and is part of the senior leadership team. A native of Georgia, Carol grew up in southwest Georgia and moved to metro Atlanta in the early 80’s after college where she majored in Accounting. Carol’s background includes roles in accounting, marketing, public relations, and operations within both corporate and non-profit companies. Carol is married to Dave and has one son and two four-legged children.

Shannon Brabner, Director of Development

Shannon Brabner is as an Air Force brat and grew up in many states but landed in Georgia in 1987. Her first job out of college was a sales position for then Peachtree Software. She advanced in many roles throughout the years with a focus on program and strategic management before leaving Sage Software. She pursued the entrepreneurial world and her own business – Open Door Communications which focused on public relations and marketing communications for musical artists in Atlanta. Moving back to the corporate world to Gwinnett based NCR Corp, provided her with exposure to corporate branding and volunteer opportunities under a newly developed program she lead – Global Brand Ambassador. Shannon received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at Georgia Southern University. She is married to Bryan, has one son, two step daughters and two Labrador retrievers.

Beverly Penn Kennedy, Chief Financial Officer

Beverly Penn Kennedy, CPA, CGMA, became the Chief Financial Officer for Hi-Hope Service Center, Inc. in August of 2015. Previously, she was a Controller for Ciba Vision, Inc. in Duluth Ga. Her not-for-profit experience started as the Director of Finance and Facility Operations at Hospice at Greensboro, where she spent five years. Beverly has also worked with Foundations, United Way and served on the Board of Directors for Greensboro Education and Development Council in Greensboro, NC. She has participated in leadership development programs and numerous continuing education programs related to not-for-profit entities. She is a graduate of Guilford College, in Greensboro, NC and has degrees in both Accounting and Business Management. Beverly is a certified public accountant licensed in Georgia and has the designation of a Chartered Global Management Accountant from the AICPA.

Terri Bennett, Director of Human Resources

Terri Bennett became the Human Resources Director of Hi-Hope Service Center in October of 2015. She has over 15 years of diverse human resources management experience with various business sectors. In her current role as Human Resources Director, Terri is responsible for career development , benefits, compensation, compliance mandates, orientations, and performance management. She has extensive hands – on experience with implementing new policy design and talent management programs. Terri holds a Master Degree in Human Resources and MBA in Finance from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Linda Hughes, Chief Program Officer

Linda Hughes is the Chief Program Officer at Hi-Hope Service Center. Linda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She came to Hi-Hope in 1992 and managed the Facility/Community-Based Work Programs and Community Access Day Services until 2008 when she was named Director of Quality Assurance. In her current position, Linda is responsible for leading staff efforts related to maintenance of accreditation through CARF, as well as ensuring that Hi-Hope meets DBHDD and other regulatory requirements. Linda is currently serving in an interim capacity to oversee the weekday community access program. She chairs the Client Rights and the Quality Assurance committees. Linda has worked in the field of developmental disabilities for 22 years.

Janis Hunter, Director of Person-Centered Training and Coaching

Janis Hunter is the Director of Person-Centered Training and Coaching at Hi-Hope Service Center. Janis started as a Board Member in 2004 and joined the managerial staff in 2005 as Manager of the Day Habilitation program. Janis has a Bachelor's degree in Speech and Audiology from the University of Oregon and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois and has a number of related publications to her credit. Janis has worked in the field of Human Services for over 25 years including direct care, management and hospice work. Janis holds the Person-Centered Thinking Trainer Certification from the Learning Community. In her current role, Janis provides oversight to admissions and documentation processes, behavior support, exceptional rate applications and compliance, as well as person-centered training.

Nick Reynolds, Volunteer Coordinator

Nick Reynolds is the Volunteer Coordinator of the Hi-Hope Service Center. He is responsible for volunteer (individual and group) and intern programming. Nick earned his BA from Macalester College and his MA from the University of Denver. He also served in the United States Peace Corps in Ukraine for 27 months. Nick brings over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector to Hi-Hope. Nick is focused on helping volunteers to develop their passions and effectively put their talents to use in support of Hi-Hope's mission.

Chatelah "Telah" Brown, Social Worker

Chatelah Brown is the Social Worker and Intake Coordinator for Hi-Hope Service Center. She came to Hi-Hope in September 2006 and brings 20 years of experience in the human services field. Telah holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Social Work. She conducts client groups, facilitates the intake and admission processes, oversees behavioral services, assists with the coordination of activities and provides staff training.

Brian Reynolds, Residential Services Manager

Brian Reynolds is the Residential Services Manager of the Hi-Hope Service Center. Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and a Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. He came to Hi-Hope in 2001 and currently supervises the house managers and provides oversight to the residential group homes. Brian brings many years of experience in the development disability field and has worked in leadership positions at Goodwill Industries in Savannah and at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
